The production of Borsalino straw hats begins in Ecuador, where the local straw is harvested from the stems of the toquilla palm, then boiled and 

dried under the sun — a process that can take up to six months. Skilled Ecuadorian artisans hand-weave the straw, creating exceptionally fine semi-

finished hats.

After undergoing careful quality control, the hats are sent to the Alessandria atelier, where they go through the brand’s continuous, strict, and highly 

intricate production processes.

Once the ribbon is added, the brim is stiffened and the hat is prepared for the final stages: trims, stitching, inspection, and packaging — all completed 

by hand.

The story of the Panama hat is truly remarkable and timeless.
